Kai Benjamin Garner

7lbs 9oz
Kai is one week old today and I am already completely in love with the boy! He is the cutest, sweetest baby ever! He has already slept through the night twice, pretty much never cries and best of all he will breastfeed...something Julien would just not do!
I had been debating through the whole pregnancy whether or not to have a c section or to try a for a VBAC but in the end after LOTS of praying and LOTS of ultrasounds and consulting with multiple DR's we all decided that I needed a c-section...(something I really didn't want to do because the recovery is so much harder). We scheduled the c-section for Thursday August 19th at 9:30am a week before his due date. We live so close to the hospital that we were able to just walk there...I never thought that I would walk to the hospital the morning I was having my baby but it was pretty nice. The next 2 hours were pretty much a nightmare...they were prepping me for the surgery and I was lightheaded from not eating and the baby was pretty much crushing me so my heart rate kept dropping and I kept passing out so by the time I was ready to go have the spinal and c-section I just wanted to cry and run home but luckily the spinal was the easiest part and everything went fine with the surgery. I had a hard time imaging having another baby besides Julien so when Kai came out chunky and blond...the opposite of Julien, I was completely shocked! We stayed in the hospital until Sunday morning...I was kinda sad to leave because it was so nice to be able to send the baby to the nursery at night and be able to just push a button to sit up and lay down so I didn't have to rely on others to get me out of bed but I was also glad to get home to Julien. The very first day in the hospital Julien wanted nothing to do with Kai and would not even hold him. He kept say "No brother". Thankfully the next day his attitude had completely changed and now he loves Kai and always want to hold him and give him kisses. So far he has been very gentle and sweet to Kai...I hope that continues. It's such an amazing experience to have a newborn in our home...they bring such a sweet spirit. I can't help but smile every time I look at him. I love my little guy...and my other two boys as well! I am definitely a lucky girl!
