And So It Begins...

Landon and I have agreed since the day that we got married that we would NEVER have pets! We just didn't want the extra mess, noise and responsibility to deal with, or so I thought. Then last week Landon comes home with a HUGE fish tank! He told me, Julien wanted a fish! I was picturing maybe a small little bowl with a little goldfish but apparently I was way off! All I can say is that these fish better be our first and last pets...and I am not cleaning the tank.

Bringing home the fish

Julien is really proud of his fish tank

Kai loves it too!
It's weird that as much as I don't want these fish I feel like a motherly responsibility for them. I find myself counting them all the time to make sure they are all still there and watching to see if any of them are getting picked on or checking to see if any of them look hungry and need food.

Solids

Kai has had a slow start with eating solids! I decided to try giving him solids the days he turned 6 months old and he HATED it! I started with rice cereal because thats just what I thought everyone did and he gagged and spit and choked EVERY time it got near his mouth. So finally after a few weeks of trying the cereal every few days I just decided to try some veggies and he has still been really slow in figuring out how to keep the food in but he loves peas, beans and sweet potatoes! I was completely surprised becuase I thought if he couldnt handle the rice cereal he would for sure hate veggies...cause every kid does right??? but that was not the case he loves them and I am so happy!
I took these pictures of Kai and remembered I had one of Julien when he was about the same age...it's fun to see the similarities and differences.

Gymnastics

Julien started gymnastics a few weeks ago and is loving it! He has SO much energy and it's hard during the winter because we are stuck inside so much so I thought a gymnastics class would be the perfect thing for him to be able to run and jump around and get all his energy out! He loves his class and never wants to leave. Its so fun to watch him try to do all the new "tricks" as he calls them and he is so proud of himself! He runs over to me every few minutes to give me a high 5 and says, I did it!

Take that Hawaii!

Landon and I went out on a date tonight and I was freezing as we were walking from the movie theater to the car and I started to think of Hawaii and was feeling depressed so I started listing off the good things about our life on the mainland...

* I was riding in our brand new car that I LOVE
* It was dark outside when we got in the car and I didn't have to worry about cockroaches coming out and crawling on me in the car
* I came home and ate a cupcake that had been sitting out on the counter for more than 5 secs and didn't have to worry about biting into a cockroach
* I have been on the mainland for over 3 months now and have not seen ONE bug, spider, gecko or anything creepy crawly
* We have free in home babysitters that help with the boys everyday
* We get to see family everyday
* I can drive to any store I want and not have a panic attack thinking about trying to find a parking spot
* I have a garage
* Carpet
* I never have to cook in my old kitchen ever again

OK that's enough I feel better now!

Julien is 3!!!

Julien is 3!!! I still have a hard time believing that I have a 3 year old and that my little guy is growing up so fast! He is 38inches tall and weighs 29lbs. He is FULL of energy and amazes us everyday with the things he learns. He has a really good imagination...its hilarious to listen to him play because he comes up with the most random things. He loves airplanes, movies, running, exploring outside, water and playing make believe anything. He is an extremely picky eater and pretty much survives on cereal, ice cream, grill cheese, juice, yogurt and the occasional fruit. He is potty trained, has outgrown nap time and sleeps in his own big boy bed. His favorite movie is Toy Story so when I asked him what he wanted for his birthday he said, "A Buzz Lightyear cake and pizza." Here are some pics of his Woody Buzz party!

His 1st Pinata...it was a hit!

The next few days after his birthday he would go downstairs looking for more candy
One of his favorite presents...Buzz Lightyear guns

He got to have both grandmas here to help him celebrate...he was in Heaven!

He is still our little Hawaiian boy!

Sledding with Dad

We still have plenty of snow here so we decided to head out early one morning and take Julien sledding. Kai fell asleep in the car so I stayed with him and watched Landon and Julien sled. They had so much fun and I loved watching them. So cute!

6 Months Old!

Weight: 15lbs 14oz 15%
Length: 26.5 inches 44%

Kai is 6 months old! Where did the last 6 months go? Its crazy to think that 6 months ago we brought home this perfect little baby to our teeny tiny little apartment in paradise and were taking him out to the beach when he was just 5 days old! Now this poor kid has to stay inside all day everyday because it is FREEZING outside! I am sure he is trying to figure out what happened...he used to be able to just lay around in the sunshine all warm and cozy and now he is bundled up so tight with so many layers on he can barely move and is still freezing! What were we thinking? Kai is still such a happy little baby! All you have to do is look at him and he will give you the biggest smile! He is such a social baby and loves to laugh. He is a great sleeper and goes to bed perfectly and sleeps through the night. He is so content and will lay on the floor and play for a good 20 minutes all by himself after he has his bottle. He hasn't learned to rollover or crawl or even sit up on his own yet but he doesn't care and neither do I...he can stay immobile and little forever! We sure love this happy little guy!
